Call for Applications: SHEAR DEI Research Fellowship
In order to further Society for Historians of the Early American Republic’s mission to foster research on “the rich complexity and enduring significance of the early American republic,” SHEAR will offer four research fellowships to scholars examining Latinx, Indigenous, Asian American, Pacific Island, and/or African diasporic history from 1776 to 1861. We are now seeking applications from interested scholars.
These fellowships may be used for research travel and/or purchasing microfilm, books, or other research-related materials. Fellows will receive $3000 at the beginning of the fellowship for their research expenses. The following year fellows will receive support to travel to present their research at the SHEAR annual conference. Scholars who are from underrepresented backgrounds, early in their careers (graduate students or recent post-graduates), and/or contingent faculty are strongly encouraged to apply for a fellowship.
Interested scholars should submit a cover letter, CV, a one to two-page summary of their research project and plans, and a brief explanation of how the fellowship funds will be used in a single file. Applications are due February 1, 2022 to fellowships@shear.org.
