Position Announcement: Social Media Editor, Journal of the Early Republic

The Journal of the Early Republic (JER) is looking for someone who wishes to serve as social media editor. The social media editor is appointed by the JER editors and is a member of the JER’s masthead. The social media editor is responsible for managing the social media profile for the JER and its online magazine The Panorama. The social media editor also participates in regular meetings of the JER editorial team, including discussions about JER and Panorama content. Appointments are for a three-year term.

The social media editor is responsible for

Managing and promoting JER-Panorama online content across social media platforms;
Developing and executing a social media plan to increase readership of JER-Panorama content;
Working with the editorial teams of the JER and Panorama to develop content for social media.

The ideal candidate will have

A PhD in history or related field with a focus on the era of the early American republic;
Experience in web communications strategies;
Knowledge of social media platforms.
