The editors of the Journal of the Early Republic are pleased to announce a call for submissions for the “From Conference Paper to Article” Workshop following the 2022 SHEAR Conference.  The workshop is open to anybody who has presented a conference paper on the era of the early republic in 2020, 2021, or 2022.

Are you wondering how to take your conference paper and turn it into an article for submission to a journal?

Would you like an opportunity to get feedback from the JER’s editors and your SHEAR colleagues?

Join the JER’s editors and your peers for this workshop to share your paper and to support your colleagues. Please submit the title of your conference paper and a short c.v. to Johann Neem (journaloftheearlyrepublic@wwu.edu) by May 15, 2022, for consideration.

Workshops will be scheduled following SHEAR’s July 2022 conference and will meet online. Participants will be asked to share a copy of their conference paper and a short cover letter detailing ideas/plans for revisions. They will also be asked to provide feedback on their colleagues’ papers and abide by SHEAR’s Statement of Values. Conference papers and cover letters will be due by July 11, 2022.

Workshops will take place July 29 from 9am-2pm EDT.

The fine print:

  • If space is limited, priority will be given to junior, untenured, and/or non-university scholars.
  • If demand is high, additional workshops may be facilitated by SHEAR scholars other than the JER’s editors.

For questions, please write Johann Neem at neemj@wwu.edu.
