Call for New SHEAR Conference Coordinator

SHEAR logo, which is an engraving of an eagle holding a banner that says Since 2016, Robyn Lily Davis has been SHEAR’s spectacular National Conference Coordinator. Before, after, and of course during the pandemic, Robyn pulled together the many details that have made for such successful and wonderful conferences.  Robyn has now decided that she needs to hand over the task of coordinating our annual conference to someone new. She will continue in her role through this July, but SHEAR hopes to have a new coordinator in place this spring to learn the ropes from her.

This link leads to the list of tasks undertaken by the conference coordinator, organized by month. Please take a look and see if you (or you and a fellow SHEAR member together) might be at a place in your life to give some extra time and attention to SHEAR and its annual conference. We are all aware of the work of the conference coordinator, and this year we recognized Robyn with SHEAR’s Distinguished Service Award. Nonetheless, the position is best for those who are happy to work steadily in the background rather than in the spotlight. The position carries a modest annual stipend and annual conference expenses.

Please send applications, questions, and nominations to SHEAR President Serena Zabin at szabin@carleton.edu.  An application consists of a very brief letter of interest and a short CV that includes any relevant service roles on program or local arrangements committees for SHEAR or other organizations.  The Advisory Council hopes to make an appointment by late January.
