CFP: Washington Early American Seminar, 2020-21

The Washington Area Early American Seminar, hosted by the University of Maryland, invites proposals from scholars wishing to present work in progress in the next academic year on any topic connected to Atlantic world or American history prior to 1865. Genuine work in progress is always preferable to polished, already-accepted pieces.

We have rescheduled seminars canceled this past spring to this coming fall. As such, we are using this CFP to plan for Spring 2021 when meetings will likely occur face to face at College Park or our partner institutions. As such we particularly welcome proposals from scholars farther afield who will be visiting the DC area for research this coming spring.

The seminars meets monthly during term time and our regular members include faculty and graduate students from a variety of DC-area institutions. Papers are pre-circulated and our Friday afternoon (4-6pm) spring seminars will be followed by a dinner at a local restaurant.

To propose a paper, please upload a brief, one-page cv and submit a title along with a 300-word description of the paper here: https://forms.gle/Lgik3CD73N3oQ79R6

Deadline for submissions is July 1.
